Ferro Study began as an experiment: pour ferrofluid, photograph the spikes, and trace letterforms from the chaos.
Approach
- 200+ macro photographs of ferrofluid under varying fields
- Digitized contours weighted into a two-style family
- Specimen book printed with metallic ink
Outcome
Released as an open-license family; used by three independent magazines in its first year.
